Nagarjuna acted in Sudigundalu as a child artist. The movie Vikram was released on 24 May 1986. In 1989 he starred in Geethanjali, a love story directed by Maniratnam which was dubbed into Tamil. In the same year, Nagarjuna followed with Shiva (1989 film), an action film directed by Ram Gopal Varma which was also dubbed into Tamil as 'Udhayam'. He subsequently made his Bollywood début with the Hindi remake of the same film Shiva. He did some different roles[clarification needed] in Killer and Nirnayam. President Gari Pellam was released in 1993. He followûed with films, Varasudu, Gharana Bullodu, and Allari Alludu., Allari Alludu was was released in Telugu in Hindi. In 1994, he ventured into comedy for the first time with Hello Brother which was later remade into Judwaa, a Hindi film starring Salman Khan. Hello Brother was also dubbed into Tamil. In 1996, Nagarjuna starred as well as produced, Ninne Pelladatha, which was directed by Krishna Vamsi. Later, Nagarjuna portrayed Annamacharya, the fifteenth century Telugu singer and poet, in Annamayya (film). In 2000, Nagarjuna starred in Nuvvu Vastavani. His subsequent films that year were Ninne Premistha and Azad (film). He starred in the romantic comedies, Santhosham, Manmadhudu, and in Shivamani.
He produced Satyam in 2003, launching the acting career of his nephew, Sumanth.
In 2004, Nagarjuna had two releases, Nennunnanu and Mass. Mass was produced by Nagarjuna and directed by dance choreographer Raghava Lawrence, became one of the highest grossing films in his career. In 2005, Nagarjuna acted in and produced Super. Then in 2006, Nagarjuna reunited and starred in the film Sri Ramadasu, his second period film based on the eighteenth century Telugu composer of the same name.[2] Nagarjuna received the Nandi Award for best actor that year. In 2007 he appeared in & as Don and In 2009 he appeared in & as King and from here on Nagarjuna Akkineni has been named KING OF TOLLYWOOD . In January 2010, he appeared as Rummy in Kedi and in December he appeared as Satya Reddy in Ragada. Ragada movie collected 20 crores share in 2 weeks (a record breaking collections in Nagarjuna's career. Ragada has been declared as a super hit movie of 2010. King Nag's next movie Gaganam is ready to release on Feb 4th 2011
He has also starred in an HIV/AIDS education animated tutorial created by TeachAIDS, a nonprofit founded at Stanford University.[3]

He has also acted in Tamil films like Ratchagan which was dubbed as Rakshakudu in Telugu. His other films which were dubbed into Tamil are Shiva as Udhayam, Geetanajli as Idhayathai thirudathae, Annamayya, Sisindri and Hello Brother. He fluently speaks Telugu, Tamil English and Hindi. Now Nagarjuna is playing the role of a Commando in his new film Gaganam/Payanam which is bi-lingual (Telugu and Tamil).
